Gangaji

Gangaji shares a simple message-This is an invitation to shift your allegiance from the activities of your mind to the eternal presence of your being.

Born in Texas in 1942, Gangaji grew up in Mississippi. After graduating from the University of Mississippi in 1964, she married and had a daughter. In 1972, she moved to San Francisco where she began exploring deeper levels of her being. She took Bodhisattva vows, practiced Zen and Vipassana meditation, helped run a Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Center, and had a career as an acupuncturist in the San Francisco Bay area.

Despite her successes, Gangaji continued to experience a deep and persistent longing for fulfillment. She pursued many paths to change her life including relationship, motherhood, political activism, career, and spiritual practice, but even the greatest of her successes ultimately came up short. In the wake of her disillusionment, she made a final prayer for true help. In 1990, the answer to her prayer came unexpectedly, taking her to India and to the meeting that would change everything. There on the banks of the river Ganga, she met Sri H.W.L. Poonja, also known as Papaji, who opened the floodgates of self-recognition. In this meeting, Gangaji’s personal story of suffering ended and the promise of a true life began to flower and unfold. Today, Gangaji travels the world speaking to seekers from all walks of life. A teacher and author, she shares her direct experience of the essential message she received from Papaji and offers it to all who want to discover a true and lasting fulfillment. Through her life and words, she powerfully articulates how it is really possible to discover the truth of who you are and to be true to that discovery.

Eli Jaxon-Bear

Eli Jaxon-Bear was born Elliot J. Zeldow in Brooklyn, New York, in 1947. His eighteen-year spiritual path started in 1971, when he was a federal fugitive during the Vietnam war. In 1978, Kalu Rinpoche appointed him the president of the first Kagyu dharma center in Marin County. In 1982, he was presented with a Zen Teaching Fan at ChoShoJi Zen Temple in Japan.

After a search took him around the world and into many traditions and practices, his path and his search ended when he was pulled to India in 1990, where he met his final teacher, Sri H.W.L. Poonja. Confirming Eli's realization, his teacher sent him back into the world to share his unique psychological insights into the nature of egoic suffering in support of self-realization.

Eli infuses the teaching with his teacher’s living transmission of silence. He presents a unique map of egoic identification as a vehicle for ruthless self-inquiry and final realization of true freedom. He dedicates his life to passing on the transmission of his teacher.

Eli currently meets people and teaches through the Leela Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to world peace and freedom through universal self-realization. He is the author of Sudden Awakening into Direct Realization, (New World Library), The Enneagram of Liberation: From Fixation to Freedom, (Gangaji Foundation Press), and he is the editor of Wake Up and Roar: Satsang with H.W.L. Poonja, (Sounds True).

Saniel Bonder and Linda Groves-Bonder

Saniel Bonder and Linda Groves-Bonder are among today's foremost pioneers in the field of embodied, mutual awakening of consciousness – or, as one of Saniel's dozen book titles puts it, "Healing the Spirit/Matter Split." They and their colleagues in the Waking Down in Mutuality work that Saniel founded in the early '90s have helped hundreds of everyday people enter into permanent Self-realization and ongoing evolutionary unfoldment.

As a married couple who teach together, Saniel and Linda transmit a process of direct awakening. It opens into a spontaneously sacred way of being alive. Their approach helps you learn to access what Linda calls "conscious skillful will.” With it you can steadily live from the recognition that even dark and difficult times are as real, divine, and important as sublime, radiant moments. Harvard grad Saniel is also a flute player, and a golfer with a book on golf’s ‘mental game’ appearing soon.

Linda has been a professional singer and songwriter, and has a CD, I’m Here. They travel throughout the U.S. and internationally to offer their “WholeHEART Way” teachings and trainings. Saniel and Linda are founding members of Ken Wilber’s Integral Institute and charter members of the Integral Spiritual Center.

Matthew and Terces Engelhart

Matthew and Terces Engelhart follow and trust intuition. From their love and commitment was born an initial guidance to create a board game and after a year of development, the Abounding River Game was introduced. The Abounding River is an interactive way of practicing “being” Abundance in your life.

Their next collaborative creation was the accompanying Abounding River Logbook, a 42-day practice that is shared with a partner and guides individuals through exercises to practice focusing attention on qualities that we all aspire to: Love, Acceptance, Generosity, Worth, Gratitude, Creation, and Responsibility. Once the game was complete, Matthew and Terces agreed that it would be wonderful to offer a place where people could gather, eat, and play the game. Coincidentally, while on their farm in Maui, Terces read a book about live foods and became so inspired that she asked Matthew to eat ‘live’ for 30 days.

At the end of the month, they felt so good they decided to create a living foods café, and so the idea for Café Gratitude was born. Shortly thereafter, they opened up on 20th and Harrison St. in the historic San Francisco Mission District. Since then, Café Gratitude has been a ground-breaking example of Sacred Commerce and its capacity to build community, encourage healthful living, and achieve abundance. They now have 6 locations in the Bay Area, and sell their products in partnering stores country wide

Aqeela Sherrills

Aqeela Sherrills has traveled the world brokering peace, but he is best known for creating the 1992 peace agreement between longtime Los Angeles gang rivals, the Bloods and the Crips. Sherrills’s inspiration came from the loss of 13 friends to gang violence. This encouraged him to lay the groundwork for peace in his neighborhood. Within 10 years he had worked on the Amer-I-Can Project with former football legend Jim Brown, and established the former Community Self Determination Institute (CSDI), an agency dedicated to the transformation of his community. Between 1999 and 2006, CSDI managed over $3 million in contracts with the city and county of Los Angeles and the state of California.

Sherrills’s current focus is on what he terms the ‘Reverence Movement,’ a peace process that allows people to see the sacredness in one another. Sherrills believes the only true path to reconciliation begins from within. It’s a message he has made so accessible that he’s delivered it to communities around the world.

Thus, he has advised government officials in Belfast and Serbia on the process of establishing non-violent communities; he has addressed the Hague and the United States Congress on the importance of peace, reverence, and non-violence; and he has brokered peace agreements between gangs in cities across the U.S. Sherrills sits on boards which seek to promote positive change, including Yes!, Bioneers, the Forgiveness Project, and the Yoga on the Inside Foundation. His work has been featured in articles appearing in Utne, LA Weekly, Los Angeles City Beat, The Urbanite, The Source, and MotherJones. In 2004 he was awarded the Activist Award of Achievement by the Gleitsman Foundation and the Norman Felton & Denise Aubuchon Humanitarian Award by Death Penalty Focus.

Rev. Angel Kyodo Williams

Rev. Angel Kyodo Williams is regarded as a gifted communicator of the essence of Dharma, the universal truth that leads to freedom. Named “the most intriguing African-American Buddhist in America” by Library Journal, Kyodoshi, as she is affectionately called, is known for her ability to make profound wisdom teaching relevant to everyday life.

Angel Kyodo is the “Mahamitra” or great spiritual friend of the New Dharma Community, which has its physical home in Berkeley,CA with members in NY, MA and as far away as Lebanon. she is a maverick within her root tradition of zen buddhism, holding an interest in articulating relevant expressions of the essence of zen. Her dharma name, Kyodo, means “way of teaching.” At her priest ordination ceremony, the suffix “-ji” meaning compassion, was added by her preceptor, Paco Genkoji Lugoviña, so that her full dharma name is something akin to: Way of Teaching Compassion. while she is humbled and sometimes chagrined by the enormity of practicing this name, she is fully committed to doing just that by any means necessary: in an unflinching, authentic way, not bound by social convention, political correctness, the desire to appeal to student’s favor or for financial gain.

Kyodoshi-mitra lives as a full-time dharma teacher, spiritual friend and leader of what is likely one of the most unique, vibrant and diverse transformative practice communities in the nation.

Kate Ludeman

Kate Ludeman founded Worth Ethic Corporation in 1988. She and her consultants have assessed and coached over 1,200 senior executives in a wide range of industries located in the US, in all major European and Asian countries, and in many South American countries. A BS in engineering and PhD in psychology give Kate a unique approach when coaching analytical, data-oriented CEOs who want to expand their emotional intelligence but who do not fully value some of the softer leadership capabilities.

She recently coached CEOs at Dell, Brinker, NetApp, Gap, Sequoia Capital, Sysco, and WellPoint. She uses a one year coaching process to significantly improve a CEO’s approach to change management, innovation and risk-taking, executive and Board communications and alignment, and executive team effectiveness. She developed a coaching approach to help newly promoted CEOs successful step into their roles and take on significantly different responsibilities. She uses an in depth 360 feedback process to break through tendencies to rationalize problems and adhere too long to the status quo.

She also designed a “first 90 days” approach to support new senior executives, hired from the outside, to build relationships with key partners and stakeholders, adapt to their new company’s culture, and create needed changes. Kate created a one-year process to transform average executive teams into highly effective teams where major problems are openly vetted, problems are fully owned, and productive debate leads to alignment and accountability. She developed a survey tool to measure executive team effectiveness, which provides a baseline metric for executive teams on trust, alignment, conflict and accountability.

Her books include Alpha Male Syndrome; Radical Change, Radical Results; Corporate Mystic; Earn What You’re Worth; and The Worth Ethic. She is the author of over 30 articles, including Coaching the Alpha-Male (Harvard Business Review, 2004). Her consulting and books have been discussed in such publications as Financial Times, Baron’s, New York Times, LA Times, London Times, etc. She designed and validated the Alpha Assessment to provide coaching tips to particularly driven and aggressive leaders; this assessment has been taken by 12,000 leaders in over 15 countries.
